This month’s guest contributor is Barbara Postema. Barbara, a lecturer in the English department at Ryerson University, works primarily on American literature, visual narrative, and of course comics. Her dissertation was titled Mind the gap: Absence as Signifying Function in Comics, and more recently she has published two papers on comics in the International Journal of Comic Art – “Draw a Thousand Words: Signification and Narration in Comic Art” and “Memories that Don’t Weaken: Seth and Walter Benjamin”.
